How to Add Reporting Authorities in Synclo

Before you begin

Before adding reporting authorities, make sure you have:
• Company Admin or HR Admin access
• employees already added to the system
• departments and roles configured
• a clear reporting hierarchy

If reporting lines are not defined, approvals and workflows may not function correctly. Set at least a basic hierarchy before assigning employees.

Why this setup matters

Reporting authorities define who reports to whom. This structure controls approvals, visibility, and workflow routing. When set correctly, managers can review requests and monitor their teams without confusion.

Steps

1. Sign in to Synclo and open the HR module
Log in to app.synclo.com with the required access. Then open the HR section from the dashboard.

2. Go to Employee Management
Navigate to Manage Company > Employee Management to access employee records.

3. Open an employee profile
Search for the employee and open their profile. This is where reporting relationships are assigned.

4. Locate reporting authority field
Find the reporting manager or supervisor field within the job details section.

5. Assign reporting manager
Select the appropriate manager from the list. Make sure the selected user is active in the system.

6. Save the changes
Save the profile to apply the reporting relationship.

7. Repeat for all employees
Assign reporting managers across the organization to complete the hierarchy.

8. Verify reporting structure
Review employee records to confirm that reporting lines are accurate and complete.

What happens next

After assigning reporting authorities, you can:
• enable approval workflows for leave and attendance
• give managers access to team data
• support performance reviews and reporting
• maintain clear organizational structure

This ensures that workflows follow the correct chain of command.

Quick Tips

• Keep reporting lines simple and clear
• Assign one primary manager per employee
• Update reporting lines after role changes
• Review structure regularly

Troubleshooting

• Cannot assign reporting manager
Check if the selected manager exists and is active.

• Approval workflows not working
Verify that reporting lines are correctly assigned.

• Incorrect hierarchy

• Changes not reflecting
